U.S. Representative Cindy Axne, D-Iowa District 3, was appointed Wednesday to sit on the U.S. House Financial Services Committee.
The Financial Services Committee has jurisdiction over key issues including oversight of federal monetary policy, banking and financial institutions, insurance, trade, housing and community development.
Axne received a masters of business administration from Northwestern University and started working for the state of Iowa in 2009. Her roles included a stint with the Department of Management overseeing organizational strategies for the state.
During her time at the State of Iowa, Axne worked closely with the Iowa Department of Banking, Iowa Insurance Division, Iowa Economic Development Association, Iowa Finance Authority, Iowa Department of Revenue and Iowa Workforce Development on strategies to better serve Iowa.
“I made sure state agencies had proper processes and strategies in place to implement their services in a tighter fashion — making sure they used taxpayer dollars wisely,” Axne said in 2017.
She later served as division administrator with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, overseeing “back end” operations — the budget, IT, HR, communications, engineering, volunteer services, Americorps and other departments.
