Iowan of the Week
I rise today to recognize Dr. Heidi Shreck, a pediatrician who serves as Chief Medical Officer for Primary Health Care, a community health center local in central Iowa. Dr. Shreck is a dedicated, trusted physician who works each day to support the health of our communities, and it is my distinct honor to name her Iowan of the Week.
Madam Speaker, I rise today to honor Larry Winum, community banker and President of the Mills County Economic Development Foundation in Glenwood, Iowa. Larry’s outstanding service to his neighbors and fellow Iowans during some of the most challenging times in the last 18 months is why I recognize him as my Iowan of the Week.
Madam Speaker, I rise before the House to recognize Kacia Cain, an Iowan who has dedicated her life to teaching students about the importance of STEM. Kacia has devoted her life to encouraging Iowans to participate and foster a love and appreciation for STEM.
Madam Speaker, I rise before the House to recognize two Iowans who have given countless hours to a worthy cause through their organization, Promise 4 Paws: a sanctuary in Council Bluffs for senior dogs.
This week, many of us took the opportunity to observe Giving Tuesday by contributing to nonprofit organizations that support those in need and help us build a better community.
I rise today to ask the House of Representatives to join me in honoring Professor Debra DeLaet, the Executive Director of the Iowa United Nations Association (UNA), for her dedication to protecting human rights and ending violence against women.
Madam Speaker, I ask the House of Representatives to join me in recognizing an Iowan who embodies the value of a strong work ethic and the dedication it takes to learn a trade. Earlier this month we celebrated National Apprenticeship Week to highlight the impact and value of apprenticeship programs across the United States.
Veterans Day offers Americans time each year to reflect on the service and sacrifices that our veterans, reminding us of the freedoms and values we might take for granted other days. This is the week for us to pay our respects to those who have served and stand united in respect for our veterans.
