In letter to Iowa Medicaid director, Rep. Axne says an insurance company’s bottom line shouldn’t limit Iowans’ access to critical medical supplies without serious and transparent justification
Today, Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03) sent a letter to the Director of Medicaid for Iowa demanding further investigation after learning that AmeriGroup, a health insurance and managed health care provider in Iowa, has begun decreasing reimbursement rates to businesses who provide vital medical supplies to Iowans on Medicaid.

In a letter to Rep. Axne, FEMA detailed $66 million in funding spent in Iowa as of January 8th, 2020. According to the letter, FEMA’s efforts in Iowa include providing aid to individuals, grants, crisis counseling, and administering flood insurance.

Bill restores protections for older workers weakened by 2009 SCOTUS ruling against Iowa’s Jack Gross
Rep. Cindy Axne voted with a bipartisan House to restore protections against age discrimination by passing the Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination Act (POWADA). The standard for rulings on age bias was changed in 2009 when the Supreme Court ruled against Jack Gross, a West Des Moines insurance company supervisor who was included in a mass demotion of older supervisors at the company following a corporate merger.
