Iowa’s two congresswomen are among the 19 rookie Democrats in the U.S. House co-sponsoring a bill that would set up a system to prevent future federal government shut-downs.
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representatives Cindy Axne and Abby Finkenauer joined nineteen new members of Congress in introducing the Shutdown to End all Shutdowns (SEAS) Act to ensure that Iowans will never experience the hardships of a government shutdown again. The SEAS Act will keep the government open and functioning if Congress and the President fail to enact appropriations legislation.
WASHINGTON – The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fight Illicit Networks and Detect (FIND) Trafficking Act of 2019, bipartisan legislation sponsored by U.S. Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03). Evidence suggests that virtual currencies have become a prominent method to facilitate illegal drug and sex trafficking. However, the full scope of the problem remains unknown.

The legislation, H.R. 648, would reopen most federal agencies immediately – with the exception of the Department of Homeland Security – provide backpay for federal employees and fund border securities measures to keep our communities safe.

Cindy Axne’s (IA-03) Grant Reporting Efficiency and Agreements Transparency (GREAT) Act of 2019, bipartisan legislation that would help Iowa communities, small businesses and farmers access funds for programs and projects to create jobs and spur economic development across the state.
