Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-01), that would stop a Democratic-proposed pay increase for Members of Congress. This week, the House is expected to vote on a trillion dollar funding bill that would provide a $4,500 pay increase to Members of Congress, making their total salary $178,500.

Cindy Axne (IA-03), a member of the House Financial Services Committee and subcommittee on Housing, requested answers regarding significant rent spikes at five manufactured housing communities (MHCs), or mobile home communities, in Iowa. In a letter sent to Havenpark Capital, a Utah-based investment firm which recently purchased these five MHCs, including Midwest Country Estates in Waukee, Rep. Axne asked for information regarding the company’s intentions to raise rents by as much as 70% on seniors, families and hardworking Iowans living in these communities.

Iowa Congresswoman Cindy Axne is pushing for a lifetime ban on members of congress becoming lobbyists after they leave the U.S. House or Senate.

Axne said over the last several years there’s been a “massive” increase in the number of former elected officials who stay in Washington to become a lobbyist.
